The idea of finding your information on the web may seem hopeless, but you will be surprised to find that it is really simple. Use the links and tips below to uncover the information you are seeking.

Starter Tips:

Google is king of online search engines.

When trying to find information on a page with lots of text; Ctrl + F on your browser will enable you to find keywords on that page.

SEARCH ENGINETip: When searching a full name on Google, put the name in quotes to narrow the search.

FULL BOOKS ONLINE –Tip: Google Books is becoming a great tool for researchers. The information you seek may be hiding in a book you never knew existed.

NEWSPAPER OBITS – Tip: Obituaries can provide a wealth of information.

Most online newspaper obits only go back a few years, but there are always other sources hiding on the internet. If you are unsure of the death date try searching the Social Security Index if they were still alive on or after 1937. You may need to contact one of the area libraries for someone to do a look up.
